As warm weather approaches, many Minnesota families are looking for kid-friendly activities to fill their summer days. Those looking for something a little out of the ordinary should consider a trip to the Reptile & Amphibian Discovery (RAD) Zoo in Owatonna.
Opened in 2009, this family-friendly zoo features reptiles and amphibians from around the world. The more than 150 animals include snakes, turtles, lizards, crocodilians, toads, frogs and salamanders exhibited in naturalistic recreations of their native environments. The RAD Zoo has one of the world’s largest displays of reptiles including “Big Al” the monster 12-foot-long alligator, and “Bella” the 14-foot-long python.
Visitors will have the opportunity to pet an alligator or snake and feed a tortoise. Birthday party packages are available for those looking for a unique experience.
